When we decide to take our 4-legged friend with us on holiday, we must also think about his needs, especially if the holiday will be relatively long! Like us, they too have their needs and we must try to respect their rhythms, altering their routine as little as possible. Especially the cat in fact, is very affected by the change of environment and it is therefore essential to put in place some behaviors that can make the holiday more relaxing!
The suitcase for them ... baby food!
Surely the first thing to think about is baby food, in fact it is very important not to change the diet, to avoid intestinal problems for our dog or cat, so we have to sit down and do a math, bringing an adequate amount of food to satisfy breakfasts , lunches and dinners for the whole holiday.
Smell of home
When we move we must also think about the smells, in fact for the animal the territory and therefore the house is very important for tranquility, so we always bring their kennel, bowls and some games with us, so as to make the new environment more similar to that at home, avoiding further stress in addition to that of travel.
Where do we go?
If we go to the beach, we should bring with us a special towel, an umbrella to protect the dog in the hottest hours of the day, a bowl for water and, if necessary because our animal is shaved and sensitive to the sun, also a sunscreen for animals, preferably natural! Let's not forget a ball ... in the evening it could be a very good game to play on the seashore with our friend!
If our holiday includes the mountain, let's not forget the travel bottle and some croquettes, and the walk is guaranteed!
Prevention that reduces nasty surprises
Before leaving, let's remember to carry out a valid prophylaxis against fleas and ticks, but let's not forget to bring with us a product that protects it from flying insects, preferably natural, very useful for preventing even serious pathologies. If we go to a risk area heartworm, talk to our vet, because it may be necessary to carry out a prophylaxis for that too, as well as in the country or region of destination extra vaccinations may be required! For those who go abroad, a passport must not be missing!
