A trip to help in the countries hit by the earthquake with the ARCObauLENO Project

Even where the state does not go, i big hearts they show up, this is the case of Giulia Fiori, a Tuscan girl who has been moving with other volunteers for months between Tuscany and earthquake zones, bringing aid for human and non-human animals, concrete help such as food, blankets, kennels and winter clothing, but also the warmth of a hug e words of hope to people who really need it!

How many trips have you made so far?

"The first trip was made on 15 and 16 October 2016 to Amatrice, where we delivered 2 quintals of material including dry food for dogs and cats and blankets, at the tent of the Animalisti Italiani Onlus association, a permanent garrison in Amatrice since the shock of 24 August 2016. The material was collected in collaboration with associations, shops or individual citizens. After this first trip we have made another 8 to date, bringing essential materials for animals but also for all people affected by this disaster. In the various trips we have touched Preci, Castelvecchio, Norcia, Camerino, Visso, Accumuli, etc. .. always with the help of new people who in addition to their time, have even made the van available. "

How is the situation in those areas?

“To date, the reconstruction is very slow, there are many barns that cannot be used even before the snow arrived. During the December trip we saw many wandering animals, undernourished horses and cows. Coldiretti di Rieti was quite worried since our first trips, as they had nothing to give to breeders, so many animals died of hunger and cold. The reconstruction is very slow, only during the last trip did we see bulldozers that moved ruins. Everything is destroyed and the saddest thing is to see the earthquake victims wandering among their homes in the middle of the rubble. Lots of stray dogs. "

In addition to these trips, what are you going to do?

“Together with Claudia Lepori, both volunteers of LIV Toscana, we have created the ARCObauLENO Project, with which Montecatini will become a permanent collection point for the various needs on the Italian territory. ARCObauLENO project is an annual collection project divided into phases. We will collect material all year round and periodically ship to different beneficiaries, so that we can reach as many places of need as possible. "

What do you collect?

"We collect food for dogs, cats, rodents, and any other animal, blankets, sweaters, coats and towels, sleepers, medicines even expiring, pesticides or any material that may be used (eg leashes, harnesses, toys for animals ...). The first collection of the project is that of January 28 for Amatrice and the kennels of Southern Italy buried by snow (Puglia and Basilicata) ”.
