Chamomile and mallow, the softening properties (and not only) of a perfect combination

In the phytotherapy universe, chamomile and mallow go hand in hand. And in the botanical world? We cannot say that they are two such different plants: mallow and chamomile are herbaceous species, of limited size (they never exceed one meter in height) and of South European origin.

Of course, each has its own peculiarities. The mallow has dark green leaves, pink flowers with purple veins and robust and streaked stems; chamomile has bushy growth habit, light green leaves and flower heads (in reality they are inflorescences), white on the outside and yellow on the inside.

And it is precisely in the yellow "disk" of the chamomile flower that herbal substances are abundant, in particular alpha bisabolol, the main component of chamomile essential oil. It has softening, soothing and emollient properties, especially if associated with the beneficial action of the mallow mucilage, unique for their calming and flaming virtues. Have you ever used mallow and chamomile to relieve toothache or conjunctivitis?

The latter, and eye inflammations in general, are pathologies found in both humans and animals, which is why cold compresses can be useful for the care and cleaning of the eyes even for our four-legged friends.
Not only. Mallow and chamomile play a fundamental role in nourishing and reinvigorating the skin and hair of dogs and cats, especially in the case of long hair and light or white coat.
