INFORMATION
The respiratory rate in the resting horse is between 8 and 16 respiratory acts per minute. This frequency increases, in terms of greater oxygen consumption, during physical activity and the horse can undergo hypoventilation with respiratory alkalosis and metabolic acidosis.
For the maintenance of homeostasis, a process that guarantees the internal balance of the animal, drainage is key and it is distinguished from detoxification, meaning by this term the neutralization process entrusted to the acid-base balance.
