Arnica montana: properties of the "grass of falls"

In the first few days of summer, walking through the meadows of the Alps or the northern Apennines, you may have seen yellow-orange flowers bloom with a strong aromatic scent: they are those of the Arnica montana that from late July can be collected for their incredible properties .

In fact, this is the ideal time to collect them and then let them dry in airy rooms, certainly not in the company of the roots, which instead require intense and prolonged exposure to the sun in order to keep well. What is important, regardless of what and how you decide to dry, is that flowers and rhizomes keep all their active ingredients intact, those for which Arnica montana is so known and appreciated.

We are talking, for example, of tannins, triterpenes and flavonoids, all substances that are capable of giving the plant important anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic and sedative properties.
The ideal, in short, in case of joint trauma, sprains and sprains: the arnica is in fact capable of accelerating the healing process, promoting the reduction of swelling and giving immediate relief from pain. For this reason, sportsmen often use it, but they are not the only ones.

Besides us (you see ARNICA HELP99) even our 4-legged friends can benefit from a therapy with Arnica montana, which has the function of stimulating circulation in the bruised part and promoting the reabsorption of any hematomas.
Veterinarians, in fact, advise it in the post-operative phase, to relieve pain, especially in elderly animals, and during treatments for muscle damage. It can be taken in the form of a preparation for external use or orally, relying on specific formulations.
